Holiday French Toast
One of my favorite things to do is put a spin on everyday cooking. It's just another way to be creative. Today, I made holiday style french toast.
Ingredients:
3 slices of bread
2 eggs
2 tbs. (low fat) eggnog
1 tsp. cinnamon (plus a sprinkle later)
1 tsp. nutmeg (plus a sprinkle later)
crystallized sugar (or sub with any other sugar)
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1. Coat pan with cooking spray or butter
2. Beat eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and eggnog in a bowl
3. Dip bread slices on both sides until saturated
4. Place in pan, and sprinkle remaining cinnamon and nutmeg on top. Also, sprinkle sugar crystals. Turn over and do the same on opposite side. cook until sugar crystals are almost melted.
I always spread a little butter on top.
Amazzzing!!! AND super easy!

Update:
So I went and checked out the makeup artistry school. Super excited to start in December!
My focus will be on fashion and photo makeup, because that's really where I want to go with this.
It's only an 8 week program. As I go through the course, I'll be setting up my portfolio and FB page for future clients. Hopefully, the majority of my work will be in NYC.
I also ran into a woman the other day who is a Reiki master. Kinda funny, because I have been looking for someone who is in my area and able to teach. Everything happens for a reason... For those of you who don't know what Reiki is, it's a form of energy healing. There are different levels of Reiki, and for every level, there are "attunements" which open you up to the energy.
There are 3 levels. Level 1, Level 2, and mastery. Each level in training takes longer than the last, but to me, it's worth it. After finishing the MUA course, this will be next.
Next year my focus is education. I haven't had much time to post blogs on the usual subjects because I've been so busy planning my future goals and projects. I think it's important to every once in a while, take a step back and evaluate where I am in my life, where I want to be, and then do what I need to in order to evolve.
Evolution = Success

Couldn't have said it better myself.
My take on “HATERS”
What is a HATER? basically the anti-fan right? …WRONG!
A hater will follow everything you do.. every post, every word, every move you make, EVEN YOUR GRAMMAR!
Basically they are MEGAfans. Your fans follow what you do, but never as closely as someone who hates you.
But why would you be randomly hated by someone you dont even know? a few reasons… but the biggest reason is usually they dont understand why so many people like you or what you do. your music, your art, your photos, your modeling, whatever..
Remember when Howard Stern first got big? 60% of his fan base were fans 40% were people listening because they HATED HIM!
haters just cant come to terms with or understand why you have fans, why so many people like you and what you do… so sometimes they will hate you only because people like you.
…oh what rebels they are!…
The more successful you are, the more you will find haters who have something negative to say about you behind the mask of the internet. or even publicly bashing you or what you do for whatever reason.
One important thing, if this gets to you… remember your work or art, isnt YOU as a person. OF COURSE it matters to you, but if someone is bashing what you do, they arent always bashing YOU. Generally haters cant separate the two, but make sure YOU can. I mean how often do you hear “oh Justin Bieber needs to DIE!!!!”. A comment first derived entirely from his music, and not his personality or personal life.
Anyway, heres the bottom line
Haters are your BIGGEST FANS! (angry mega fans!) - they are the ones that view-review-rerereview everything you post.
SO…. dont sweat the haters, because they love you, in the most ridiculous way possible.
I <3 my Haters.

FYI
I haven't blogged in a while...
I'm super excited for the holidays. It has been a crazy year. Every Christmas, we celebrate at my house and I cook. I Even bought a new apron for the festivities. Don't worry, I'll list a few great recipes incase you all are looking for some new ideas.
A bunch of new things have been happening lately. I decided to go back to school for makeup artistry. I've always been involved in fashion, modeling and photography. This would be a perfect way to dabble deeper. My goal is to be a MUA in NYC part time and LA on occasion. So... Photographers, models, and those of you in the film industry...Keep me in mind :)
Classes start in December. On top of that, there are some continued education courses in massage I've been researching. If you're not moving forward, you're staying behind...

Remember Me
During a conversation I had with a friend the other day, he told me "You aren't the type of person people forget about". And I thought to myself, what makes someone difficult to forget? It was hard for me to answer this question because, for the most part, I don't forget anyone. Especially those who have made an impact on my life.
So, does that mean I make an impact? Or is there another reason? Even the ones who have came and gone from my life quickly. They resonate. So, why do so many people forget others?
Without getting too personal, I don't believe I am allowed to forget. I'm either on one side of the fence or another. There is no in between. Because of this, I either accept someone into my life completely, or completely shut them out of it. No one is gone AND forgotten. It comes as a blessing and a curse. I'm sure there are people out there who feel the same way...
This brings me back to my question, what makes someone difficult to forget? The answer I've found is: everything.

Animal Cruelty
Although this blog is generally used for posting things about art/fashion/music etc. there are other more important subjects that I would like to touch on. One being animal testing.
Many products we use today are first tested on animals to find side effects. For instance, you know that getting shampoo in your eye stings. Before making it to shelves, certain shampoos are tested on animals to come to this conclusion, and caution labels are put on the bottles. The animals are kept in labs, have horrible living conditions, and are kept only to be tested on. Mice are not the only animals used in experiments. Rabbits, cats, dogs and other animals are also used for testing. I believe that this is cruel, and a form of animal torture which needs to stop.
Not all products are tested on animals. The ones that aren't usually say it on the back of the container. It's not always easy knowing which brands don't test, but to help educate people on this subject, I've put together a list of some that don't.
If I am missing any, feel free to post them in a comment. The more options we have for using non-tested products, the better.

Some People...lol
Walking in the mall:
Stranger walks up beside me...
Stranger: Hi
Me: Hi
Stranger: What's your name?
Me: I don't have one
Stranger: Want me to give you one?
Me: No thanks.
(I keep walking)

In Vogue
Okay, so I know I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks, but a lot has been going on...
1. NY fashion week! There were a bunch of events going on for Fashion's Night Out, but because I was working, I couldn't make it. However...The Emails I received spoke of some really cool giveaways and I'm sure it was buckets of fun. Alexander McQueen's event had a limited edition crystal skull keyring they were giving out, and on the key was a code. If you had the correct code, you got another awesome gift...Sad I had to miss it.
2. For Labor Day weekend, I went to the casino. I'm not a gambler, but I played the slots and because I didn't spend my winnings, I doubled what I spent...Beginners luck? Maybe, but I'm still excited!
3. Since it's fall, I decided it was time to get some new fall-esque shoes. I love the slip on boots. I don't need the Uggs, or anything crazy expensive to just run around in. As long as they are comfortable. Of course, by now, you know I love leopard. I found these boots on Amazon.com for $23! they are by Qupid, and they're super comfortable! They also come in zebra, and a couple of other colors as well.
I also found these fun ankle boots from Victorias Secret. By the way, before I started wearing ankle boots, I would see some that I liked, but never knew what I would wear with them. They seemed difficult to pair with an outfit. I love how straight leg pants look on people, but I'm not crazy about how they look on me. So I decided to compromise. I love leggings, they are super comfy and you can either dress them up or down, depending on the top you wear. so I figured if I like leggings, Express sells these really nice "jean leggings", which, I don't know why they call them that, but they are stretchy. I can't stand jeans that smother you...Anyway, If you pair the leggings, or straight leg jeans with a tunic sweater, or long length shirt, you can rock those boots, feel confident, and comfortable all at the same time. That's how I like ankle boots the most. I personally don't think boot cut pants look great tucked in. And unless you are going for a boho look, long skirts don't really do them any favors either.
4. Check out this outfit I saw in the September edition of Vogue...And by the way, I suggest you pick up a copy. It has everything you can imagine about fall fashion, and it's HUGE! So much eye candy, you'll need to take a break in between what seems like chapters from a book you don't want to put down.
5. I've been going to the gym a lot more lately. I figure with my career in massage therapy, you need to be in shape and have the energy to do your best. When I go to the gym, It makes my job so much easier. I feel like my self thanks me for it.
6. Along with the shoes I bought for fall, I also found some things at H&M I couldn't refuse...This faux leather skirt was eyeballing me from across the room. I almost didn't get it, but then I thought to myself "Self...When are you going to find another faux leather skirt that is high waisted, and not skin tight?" You can wear this skirt with tights and flats, sandals before it gets cold, OR super high heels. I think I'll do all 3. I also snagged this amazing leopard cardigan. Did I mention I love leopard? there's no such thing as too much!
7. Lastly, I found these huge red sunglasses. The bigger, the better. In the 80's/early 90's when my mother wore the really big eyeglasses, my siblings and I would make fun of it. Now that I wear sunglasses that pretty much hide my entire face, I get to hear "but you told me I looked silly! Who's silly now?!" Yeah Yeah :).

10 Things...
you probably don't know about me:
1. The music I first remember listening to as a child was Anita Baker, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton, En Vogue, Boys II Men, Vanessa Williams, Marvin Gaye, and George Michael...My mother would blast it while cleaning and doing laundry.
2. My favorite color has always been red.
3. The first concert I ever went to was Aerosmith. Back in the early 90's...My father had been friends with Steve Tyler and Joe Perry since they were kids. Joe Perry's parents went to my parents wedding in the 70's. When I met Steve, he said "what gorgeous lips!" Go figure.
4. I don't watch horror movies, or anything else involving negativity.
5. Piercings I've done on myself starting when I was 12 include: My nose on both sides, Lebret, Ears, Monroe, and both my upper and lower belly button. Ps. If you are UNDER 18, DO NOT ATTEMPT!
6. Your smile is the first thing I will notice about you.
7. My favorite scent is Vanilla. Lavender comes in 2nd.
8. I don't like sports.
9. I have my own style. I don't follow trends or label myself.
10. When I was really young, I thought braces were cool. I never had them, So I would tie dental floss around my teeth.

To love, With love.
A shallow grave
Where my heart is laid to rest
It doesn't
Everyone knows it but me
Screams in the night
Begging to make my chest it's home
I can't bear the sight
Where my heart is laid to rest
It doesn't
Everyone knows it but me
Screams in the night
Begging to make my chest it's home
I can't bear the sight
